My brother is an orthopedic technician/cast tech at the hospital where I work. I called him to see what it would take to finally see an ortho doc about this reoccurring excruciating (hence, cruciate ligament?) pain. Cruciate actually means crossing...I wonder where excruciating pain comes from...do you think from taking someone off of the cross they were crucified on? although, the person who was on the cross would no longer be feeling any pain...so they would have to be referring to the pain the person doing the work of removing the crucified would be going through? anyone?
regardless...the pain is reoccurring and excruciating. my brother got a spot for me in the ortho clinic with their best doc, the head ortho doc at the hospital, within 1 hr. I was then scheduled for an m.r.i. only to find out later that I had to reschedule the m.r.i. due to a scheduling conflict so he rescheduled the m.r.i. for earlier the next day...that day was yesterday! my scheduled appt. with the referred ortho doc, the one that did my achilles repair a few years back, wasn't until next week. so, my brother took care of that and got me in to see the doc for a follow-up today! DONE! 3 days, 3 appointments, 1 m.r.i., two docs...3 days! DONE! that's impressive. the advantages of the u.s. medical system can be honored every now and again. overall, still not socially beneficial...we are an individualistic society. that's just the way it is.
THE RESULTS:
there are no permanent or drastic injuries that i have sustained. my right knee looks totally and perfectly healthy according to the radiologist and the ortho doc extraordinaire. That's the good news. surgery is not an issue at all. the bad news is that there's no real answer. I know the pain and the pain is awful...like kick me off the mountain type of pain. slowly but surely measuring my comfort level during my activities...doing yoga...exercising without necessarily running around the lake...that's the key. ahhh...frickin sucks. but could be worse.
