it's true. some people have a vestigial need for music in their lives, but mine has apparently become an appendage. i drown out the world on the train and i'm closed off. BUT, in my defense, i had an iPod mini whose battery life depleted, an old school iPod classic that lasted three years until i dropped it one too many times, a new iPod classic black that's just a few months old which i altruistically gave to my sister, and an iPod touch that i got for free with the Apple Back to School promo. you should get the macbook, really. it's shocking how good it is.

i am not moving away from New York, just going to Vancouver for a week. so as some of you have expressed, don't worry, i'll still be the Kendra from New York :). for now. i'll probably be micro-blogging via twitter.

I woke up to both of my parents lecturing me about packing this morning. As if I'd lacked this appendage in my brain to - I don't know - think.

I wonder if there is this inherent parental need to disregard four years' worth of being on the Dean's List, being responsible, getting almost every academic accolade possible, juggling other people's petty dramas, and single-handedly treat me like a toddler who unintentionally shits in her Lion King's baby Nala and Simba underpants.

I wonder.

EDIT: Okay, this was somewhat redeemed when I overheard my mom explaining to my father how I managed to wrangle a teaching assistantship and get tuition remission. :)

it's been an ass-backwards summer for me. i've engaged in a slew of self-destructive habits that may serve to screw me over in the long run.

as someone who'd once earned the label of "healthy" by eating broccoli all the time, i've single-handedly managed to undermine my physical livelihood. scenario 1: it being 4AM and i'm experiencing an unprecedented amount of productivity. earlier today, i did some errands and spent quite some time looking for a watch al over Manhattan. i was listless and fell asleep on myself on the subway after my ipod battery died. DM called later and asked if i wanted to come out and play. i was undertaking the dizzying task of packing for Vancouver and subsequently moving boxes around to pack for grad school. some chainsmoking and a coffee float later, here i am. i've stayed up past 3 am for several weeks now and have wavered between 5-6-3 hours of sleep a night and occasionally overcompensating it with 10 hours. i'll probably be incredibly jetlagged when i land back in NY, days before class :(.

scenario 2: eating bullshit at any given hour and quickly compensating it with the saltwater flush, ginger tea, and senna tea. you're NOT supposed to resort to these on a frequent basis. as a result, you fuck up your digestive system. my stomach is now probably impervious to any remedial intervention short of an actual colonic. not cool. and drinking copious amounts of coffee and not combining foods correctly is adding much insult to injury. yes, i know a lot about food combining and nutrition. but i don't practice it.

sigh. those new year's reolutions were stuck in a casket, got lost on the N train, thrown around a car trunk, and incinerated. :( it's 4:38 now. i should probably get some sleep.
